When pre-planning your funeral, you want to ask what's important to you...what's been important in your life...how do you wish to be remembered and how can you express this to your family and loved ones?  The staff at Hadley's Funeral Home can ensure that your funeral arrangements will be a true reflection of the life you've lived.

There are two categories that make up the funeral service selection; the services of a funeral professional and funeral merchandise.

Funeral services include:

  • The professional services of a funeral director and staff
  • Transportation Services
  • Embalming and other preparations
  • Facilities for visitation
  • The funeral ceremony
  • Funeral vehicles
  • Other services and associates items such as pastoral services, music, grave opening and closing, etc.

Funeral merchandise includes:

  • Casket, urn or both
  • An outer burial container, cemetery vault or other selection
  • Other merchandise and items such as flowers, acknowledgement cards, and transfer containers

You can discuss your selections and ask questions of any of our staff members...remember, our family is here to serve your family.  During these discussions, you'll receive a complete explanation of the selections available and the prices.  The decisions you make will tell us exactly what type of funeral service you want and we'll help you put this in writing.  This leaves no doubt about your expressed wishes and, because it's in writing, eliminates your loved ones from asking questions such as:

  • Did we forget anything?
  • Did we do the right thing?
  • Did we spend to much or too little?
  • Is this what he/she would have wanted?

You may also want to consider the following when expressing your wishes.

What has been your favorite:

  • Song or hymn
  • Scripture reading
  • Poem or quote
  • Flower or memento
  • Charity or cause

In addition, you might want to plan for someone to:

  • Deliver your eulogy
  • Share a special reading
  • Lead a prayer
  • Sing your favorite songs/hymns
  • Play an instrument
  • Greet guests and family members
  • Read a letter from you to your loved ones
  • Scatter your ashes

Families often mention to us a favorite photo, family story or hobby or interest.  You can share these moments, during the visitation, with a memory display.  This may include your favorite photos, such as graduations, military affiliations, special recognitions, involvement in church or organizations.  You may also want to include photos throughout your lifetime, craft or hobby projects, newspaper articles, and religious articles.  These items may be displayed during the ceremony at the funeral home or taken to the church, synagogue or temple.

Our staff can assist you in many other ways with personalizing your visitation.  Your favorite reading or poem, hobby or sport, occupation or lifestyle can be personalized in the casket or urn you select.  We can also offer suggestions for ways you can plan to help your loved ones in the days that follow your service...when friends and relatives have gone home.

Knowing that you cared enough to plan your own funeral may be one of the best gifts you can leave your loved ones and family.  Call for an appointment or stop in during normal business hours to find out how our family can serve yours.
